Officially the administrative district is „administrative district Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge", but with the population still with administrative district Wunsiedel. He lies in the east of the governmental district Upper Franconia and borders in the north in administrative district Hof , in the east on the Czech republic, in the south to the administrative district Tirschenreuth and in the west in administrative district Bayreuth . With an extent of 606 kms ² and a number of inhabitants of 82229 citizens and female citizens a medium population density of 135 residents per square kilometer surrenders.
