In the northwest of the governmental district Upper Franconia lies the administrative district Coburg. In the north he borders on Thuringia, in the east to the administrative district Kronach, in the south to the administrative districts Lichtenfels and Bamberg and in the west to the administrative district Haßberge. With approx. 91,700 residents and a surface of 592 kms ² the administrative district Coburg has a medium population density of 155 residents per km ².
