The climate in upper franc could barely be more differently. In southern "Frankish Switzerland" in the administrative district Forchheim lies the biggest European cherries cultivation area. The warm sun in the spring and the relatively well-balanced climate in the annual run favors the cultivation of fruit and vegetables. In the crass opposite the climate presents itself in the "Fichtelgebirge" and in the "Frankenwald". Long, austere winters with frost to -25°C and a lot of snow till April make the cultivation of a lot of fruit and vegetables kinds like tomatoes, apricots, wine and such in Upper Franconia open land nearly impossible. Hof is the coldest town of Germany in the annual means, some scoffer also speak of in Bavarian Siberia. For it the Fichtelgebirge and the Frankenwald offers excellent winter sports possibilities. All the same whether you are interested in Ski-alpine, cross-country skiing, Snowboarding or sledges, you find the best conditions for the exercise of your sport with us in Upper Franconia.

What concerns the human blow, the climate has a considerable leverage on the mentality of the people. If the residents are open in "Frankish Switzerland" and innovations rather accessible (provided that is generally possible with a franc), the residents are rather taciturn in the rough areas of the Fichtelgebirges or the Frankenwald, are closed and not quite sociable. The houses which are dressed up all around with blue-black slate spread not exactly a Mediterranean atmosphere. A restaurant is looked as congested if at every table more than one person sit. The dialect, cultivated from locals with devotion, is not understood by many immigrants simply. It does not worry the "natives" and thus language barriers to be bridged and with it integration problems of Franconian way remain in some places almost not. One must already take care a little bit to win the heart of an upper franc. In the end, one follows in Upper Franconia still old rules and rituals. Who was there first, has the elder rights. However, the wage of the trouble is the more plentiful for it. Friendship often holds beyond the grave and one can be sure that the friends stand like a cliff from the hardest grantite of the Fichtelgebirge to one. All the same what comes. With theirs kind stubbornly, balkyn way upper francs have retained integrity their peculiarities about the millennium. In Upper Franconia there was only upper franc, no Romans with your modern useless rubbish like wine or thermal baths or other immigrants. The Limes runs to the south of Upper Franconia, in Weißenburg great Roman excavations are to be visited.
